Dave Cross . . .


. . . attended Washington State University. He holds the Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Music degrees.

Dave has taught at Tyee High School, University High School and Cascade High School in Everett, Washington. He has also taught at Shoreline Community College and the University of Washington. He has conducted honor jazz and concert choirs throughout the United States and Canada. Dave is in demand as an adjudicator/clinician all over North America. Dave's positive, supportive attitude with students is nurturing and encouraging. He loves what he does and he does it with passion. His energy and enthusiasm for kids, music and life are exemplary.

Dave's choirs have earned top awards at vocal jazz festival throughout the Pacific Northwest. More importantly his students have grown immensely under his direction and mentoring. Some say he might just be one of the greatest granddads anywhere around.

Dave's compositions and arrangements have been performed by jazz choirs of all levels throughout the world. As a composer and arranger, he has completed over one hundred twenty vocal jazz arrangements, with many of these arrangements available through UNC Jazz Press and Sound Music Publications. He presently writes for Sound Music Publications.

He is a member of MENC (Music Educators National Conference), WMEA (Washington Music Educators Association), IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators), and has served on the executive in many of these groups; and was a founding member of, and served for twenty-five years on the faculty of the Frank DeMiero Jazz Camp., and is currently on the faculty of the Soundsation Vocal Jazz Camp.
